Gary Moore’s Digitech Bad Monkey has been listed on the Reverb site for £10,000. Has the Bad Monkey pricing explosion now just gone into overdrive?
Gary Moore’s Digitech Bad Monkey
Yes, Gary Moore’s Digitech Bad Monkey is actually being sold for a frankly ridiculous £10,000 on Reverb. Plus, they want £8 for delivery!
The Moore-owned Bad Monkey comes with its original box and manuals. It is described as in “excellent condition, with only a few small scuffs and one noticeable mark on the face where it appears a microphone might have been dropped on it.”
Budget Klon
The Bad Monkey price explosion all started because of the JHS video posted by Josh Scott. The pedal company owner compared the little green, budget overdrive pedal to the Klon Centaur. A highly sought-after and very overpriced transparent overdrive pedal from the 1990s.
The Monkey’s Provenance
The DigiTech Bad Monkey was first released in 2004 and apparently, Gary used this particular one on his pedalboard and it comes with a letter of provenance written by Graham Lilley who was Moore’s guitar tech.
“This letter of provenance confirms that the lot below was formerly owned by the late Gary Moore and sold on behalf of the Gary Moore company. Any information regarding provenance has been supplied by Gary’s long-standing guitar technician, Graham Lilley.”
