Spurr Audio today announced the launch of the PMF-8824, a compact multi-modulation pedal that combines vintage digital aesthetics with modern creative power. Inspired by the personal computers of the early 1980s, the PMF-8824 offers guitarists and musicians a distinctive toolkit for crafting modulated textures and unconventional tones.

A Nostalgic Interface with Modern Functionality

At Guitar Bomb, we have long been fans of Spurr Audio and eagerly await their new releases. The new PMF-8824’s design is a clear homage to the past, featuring a retro-inspired pixel screen that dynamically changes to reflect the selected effect.

This visual identity, complete with pixel fonts and windowed layouts, makes each of the eight custom-designed effects feel like its own interactive “page.”

The pedal’s housing and graphical user interface (GUI) were carefully modeled after early computer aesthetics, creating a unique and user-friendly experience.

Vintage and Modern

Mono with Spatial Tricks

Despite its nostalgic appearance, the PMF-8824 is a forward-thinking pedal. While it operates in mono, each of its effects is crafted to feel immersive, using spatial tricks, stereo-style modulation, and reverb-like environments to expand the perceived soundstage. This attention to detail ensures a rich, full sound that belies its compact size.

A Versatile Toolkit for Sonic Exploration

The PMF-8824 comes equipped with eight custom-designed effects, each with its own dedicated screen layout and real-time control over three contextual parameters (Ctrl 1–3). In addition to these controls, dedicated knobs for Mix, Volume, and Program selection make dialing in sounds quick and intuitive.
