This isn’t just another fuzz pedal—it’s a two-headed monster designed to destroy and reshape your sound with unprecedented control. Known for pedals that push the limits of distortion like the legendary Fuzz War, DBA has now taken their signature broken, brutal tone and split it in two.
A Fuzz Pedal with a Split Personality
The Crossover Fuzz is built around two distinct fuzz circuits: a fat, dark, droning fuzz for your low frequencies and a biting, growling fuzz for your highs. These two “fuzz beasts,” as DBA calls them, are sent through a resonant crossover filter, allowing players to apply different levels of gain and volume to each band.
This unique design unlocks a huge range of tonal possibilities, from bubbling, sludgy bass with slightly scratched highs to a searing lead tone with snarling mids.
Versatility and Control
Each of the two fuzz bands has its own dedicated Gain and Volume controls, giving you granular control over your sound. The large “Freq” knob lets you adjust the crossover point between the high and low frequencies, while the “Resonance” control adds a layer of brutal hiss and self-oscillating squeal.
What truly sets the Crossover Fuzz apart is its flexible I/O. With two separate inputs and outputs, it can handle mono-to-stereo, stereo-to-stereo, or even stereo-to-mono configurations. This makes it an incredibly powerful tool for complex pedalboards, allowing you to split your signal to different amplifiers, isolate frequencies for creative routing, or use it as a stereo panner that slings sounds across the room.
Transform Your Fuzz into a Wah or Modulator
Beyond its core fuzz functionality, the Crossover Fuzz includes an expression input, opening up even more experimental avenues. By connecting an expression pedal, you can sweep through the frequencies, transforming the pedal into a dynamic, filter-based wah effect, especially when the resonance is cranked up.
Customisable LED Colour Scheme
Choose between Sky Light or Cyber Light LED colors to match your stage aesthetic. The LEDs provide a vivid, real-time visual representation of the crossover frequency, adding flair and function to your pedalboard setup.
Photo Modulator
For even more unconventional sounds, DBA has also released the Photo Modulator, a new light-sensing expression device.
Available exclusively on their website for $39, this small gadget uses a light sensor to control the pedal’s expression, creating wild, jagged sweeps and modulation based on the light in your environment.
