Massive Free Update Delivers 669 New Devices and Cloud-Trained Amp Modeling Realism for Guitarists.

Today marks a watershed moment for owners of the Neural DSP Quad Cortex and Nano Cortex. The company has rolled out its most significant hardware update in history—CorOS 3.3.0 and NanOS 2.2.0—introducing Neural Capture Version 2 (V2), a cloud-trained modeling platform that promises a “generational leap” in digital amp and pedal replication.

This free update, described by Neural DSP as “one of the largest virtual device expansions in the company’s history,” dramatically elevates the sound and performance of both flagship amp modelers.

The Cloud Advantage: Neural Capture V2 Explained

The centerpiece of CorOS 3.3.0 for the Quad Cortex is the debut of Neural Capture V2. Unlike the original captures, V2 captures are processed entirely in the Cortex Cloud via the new Cortex Control 1.4.0 desktop application.

For musicians searching for the best amp modeler or digital guitar rig, V2 technology delivers an unprecedented level of dynamic accuracy and resolution.

“Neural Capture V2 represents a generational leap in modeling technology and unifies the next stage of innovation across both Quad Cortex and Nano Cortex,” says Francisco Cresp, CPO and co-founder of Neural DSP.

Specifically, this update focuses on the “expressive behaviors” of sought-after tube amps, overdrive pedals, fuzz pedals, and compressors—hard-to-replicate qualities such as sag, bloom, and touch sensitivity.

By harnessing cloud processing, the Quad Cortex can now recreate these subtle, performance-defining characteristics in greater detail than ever before, making your digital rig feel more like a physical electric guitar amp.

669 New V2 Captures: Dumble, Marshall, Vox, and More

To prove the power of V2, Neural DSP has packed the update with an enormous library of new virtual devices. The CorOS 3.3.0 and NanOS 2.2.0 updates include 669 V2 Captures out of the box, featuring legendary and highly coveted gear.

Category Count Notable Captures (Keywords)
Amps 17 Dumble Overdrive Special (labeled “Dumbbell ODS”), 1987 Marshall JCM800, 1964 Vox AC30
Combos 2 Vintage Tube Combos
Fuzz Pedals 11 Classic and Modern Fuzzboxes
Overdrives 7 Essential Overdrive Pedals
Compressors 4 Studio-grade Compressors
Cabinets 17 Diverse Speaker Cabinets

Additionally, the update introduces an expanded mono synthesizer inspired by the synth engine in Rabea Massaad’s popular Archetype plugin suite.

V2 Capture Creation: How to Get the Best Tone

Quad Cortex users can now create their own high-resolution V2 Captures.

  • Process: Open Cortex Control 1.4.0, log in, and select the V2 capture type.

  • Requirement: An online connection is mandatory for V2 captures, as the processing is handled by the Cortex Cloud, resulting in higher fidelity but a slightly longer creation time.

  • Note: V1 Captures can still be performed offline.

Limited Editions

If you want a limited-edition version, Andertons currently has them in White with Black footswitches for £1449, and Thomann has them in Blue for $1533/£1399/€1585.

In the US, Sweetwater has them in White with gold footswitches for $1799

Nano Cortex: Full V2 Compatibility

While the smaller Nano Cortex cannot create V2 captures, the NanOS 2.2.0 update allows the unit to seamlessly load and play all V2 captures made by the Quad Cortex community via the Cortex Cloud.

The Nano Cortex update also features significant workflow improvements, including:

  • Making Tremolo available in Post Effects Slot 1.

  • Automatic sum to mono operation when using a single output cable.

  • Enhanced stability, fixing issues with pops when switching captures and improving IR scrolling.

Both updates are available now and are free for all owners.

“CorOS 3.3.0 and NanOS 2.2.0 deliver major technology advances while refining the everyday workflows musicians depend on,” concludes Doug Castro, Neural DSP’s CEO and co-founder. “The result is simple. More realism. More capability. More time spent creating.”
