After years of crafting custom instruments for legendary YOB guitarist and vocalist Mike Scheidt, Dunable Guitars has officially rolled out a highly anticipated, limited-edition custom-shop run of the Mike Scheidt Signature Gnarwhal. Built to the exact specifications of the guitar Scheidt has been wielding on stages across the world, this collaboration offers players a crucial tool for delivering everything from meditative clean passages to tectonic doom riffs.
The announcement marks a proud moment for Dunable, which stated that it has been “huge fans of Mike and his music for a very long time.” The signature model, which has served as Scheidt’s main stage guitar for the past few years, is limited to a scarce run of just seven instruments.
Dunable Guitars Mike Scheidt – A Shorter Scale for Faster Doom
A key departure from the standard model and a defining characteristic of Scheidt’s sound is the choice of a shorter, faster 24.75″ scale length. Chosen for its slinkier feel and expressive responsiveness, this scale length is described as being “incredibly immediate under the fingers” and a crucial component of the signature YOB guitar sound.
The entire instrument is constructed from two-piece Black Limba for both the body and neck. This tonewood was selected not just for its striking visual character but, more importantly, for its deep, singing resonance. The guitar is finished in a thin charcoal-burst nitro lacquer, which is known to let the wood resonate freely—another crucial tone component.

Lollar High-Wind Imperials: The Voice of Doom
For the voice of the instrument, Dunable partnered with Lollar Pickups to include Scheidt’s absolute favorite humbucker: the High-Wind Imperial. Both the neck and bridge positions are loaded with this pickup, known for its exceptional clarity, muscular midrange, and dynamic sensitivity. The Lollar High-Wind Imperials are perfectly suited to excel in the wide sonic range required by Scheidt’s playing style, from atmospheric cleans to planet-crushing gain.
This custom-shop instrument includes several features not commonly available on Dunable guitars, reflecting the unique demands of the doom metal pioneer.

Pricing and Availability
The Mike Scheidt Signature Gnarwhal is priced at $3,650. Given the extremely limited run of only seven guitars worldwide, interested parties are advised to act quickly.
Each guitar ships in a hard-shell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Mike Scheidt, ensuring that the buyer receives the exact finish, feel, and pickup configuration of Scheidt’s personal stage guitar.
