Ola Englund’s Solar Guitars has officially unveiled its latest speed machine: the S1.6RS CAR. Featuring a striking Candy Apple Red finish and iconic white racing stripes, this premium Type S model blends vintage automotive aesthetics with cutting-edge metal specifications.

Solar Guitars is shifting into high gear with the release of the Type S1.6RS CAR. While the “racing stripes” might suggest a need for speed, the technical specifications prove that this guitar is built for much more than just looks.

As part of the brand’s top-tier Type S1 range, the S1.6RS is engineered for professional touring musicians and studio session players who demand absolute tuning stability and aggressive tonal output.

Precision Engineering Meets “Muscle Car” Attitude

The first thing players will notice is the high-impact Candy Apple Red Gloss finish, accented by bold White Racing Stripes and chrome hardware. However, beneath the hood, the S1.6RS is a pure modern metal machine.

Set-Thru Neck

The guitar is built on a solid Alder body, a wood prized in the industry for its balanced tonal foundation, offering tight lows and articulate highs. Its set-thru neck construction and 25.5” scale length provide maximum sustain and unparalleled access to the upper frets—a necessity for technical lead playing.

Built for the Stage: EverTune and Luminlay

The standout feature of the S1.6RS is the EverTune constant-tension bridge. This fully mechanical system has become a staple for modern metal guitarists, ensuring the instrument stays in perfect tune and intonation regardless of temperature changes or aggressive down-picking.

For performers playing under unpredictable stage lighting, the guitar comes equipped with Luminlay ‘glow in the dark’ side dots. These are paired with a fast C-shaped 3-piece maple neck and an ebony fingerboard loaded with 24 super-jumbo stainless steel frets, ensuring the neck remains durable and “slick” for years to come.

High-Output Electronics

To match its aggressive styling, Solar has outfitted the S1.6RS with a pair of Seymour Duncan USA Distortion pickups (SH6N neck / SH6B bridge). Known for their high output and “maximum crunch,” these humbuckers deliver the razor-sharp attack and heavy mids required to cut through dense metal mixes.
