The Les Paul’s iconic single-cut design and rich, sustaining tone have inspired countless guitar manufacturers. While Gibson holds the original patent, many other brands produce exceptional “Les Paul style” guitars—often referred to as single-cut or LP-style—that offer unique features, different price points, and diverse tonal palettes.
Top 10 Les Paul Alternatives
Here’s our Top 10 list of Les Paul-style guitars not made by Gibson, along with a few reasons why you should check them out. If you are looking for a single-cut guitar and want something a little different, then these ten models are ones you should be aware of.
The list includes models at various price points, both humbucker-equipped and P90 options, with vintage and modern styles catered for, so there are plenty of tonal variations to choose from.
We have avoided boutique, rare, hard-to-find luthier-made instruments for our list, and instead opted for guitars you can buy from around the world from authorized dealers, with no wait lists. Our list has a few curveballs in there, so make sure you let us know what your favorites are in the comments section below.
