EDS-1275

Gibson has launched an exciting new collaboration with rock legend Jimmy Page, introducing a series of signature guitars. The first model to hit the scene is a meticulous Custom Shop replica of Page’s iconic 1971 Gibson EDS-1275 double neck.

Launch Event

The launch event, led by Gibson’s CEO Cesar Gueikian, was a star-studded affair featuring rock icons including Page himself, Tony Iommi, and Brian May. Gueikian emphasized Page’s pivotal role in Gibson’s history, acknowledging his significant contributions to the brand’s legacy.

Rumours of new Page-inspired guitars had been circulating, with subtle hints appearing on social media, including a glimpse of the EDS-1275′s 12-string side in a recent Instagram post by Gueikian.

In creating this replica, Gibson went to great lengths to capture the essence of Page’s original guitar. The team used advanced 3D scanning and analysis to replicate its physical and tonal characteristics, even visiting Page in London to study the instrument firsthand.

Page expressed his desire for the replica to be as authentic as possible, highlighting the attention to detail that went into its creation, including custom modifications and a unique ageing process by the Murphy Lab to match his original guitar.

Cesar Gueikian

Gueikian also shared insights into the technical process, including analyzing the original pickups to recreate their exact material and sound properties.

Page shared his enthusiasm for the project and recounted a memorable interaction that underscored the guitar’s enduring appeal and its role in inspiring new generations of musicians.

The collaboration hints at more Jimmy Page models in the future, with speculation about reissues of his legendary Gibson Les Paul Standards, known as #1 and #2, which have become iconic in their own right.

Fans eager to learn more about the Jimmy Page EDS-1275 and future models should stay tuned to Gibson for updates and announcements.

Being the main music writer in Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page has forever impacted the sound of music, and pioneered the sound of rock across all its variations. “When I met with Cesar and he explained what the future of Gibson looked like, I knew I needed to be involved. There is a spirit in the place; after seeing the people working at the factories and getting a connection with them, I knew that picking up that Les Paul Custom and the Doubleneck all those years ago was certainly the right decision.” – Jimmy Page
