Gamechanger Audio Unveils 'Recorder': A Spectral Morphing Workstation That Reimagines Loop Pedals
Gamechanger Audio, creators of the Plasma Pedal, unveil the Recorder: a limited-edition spectral morphing workstation that redefines the loop pedal.

Gamechanger Audio, the audacious Latvian company behind groundbreaking effects like the Plasma Pedal and Light Pedal, has just unveiled its latest sonic invention: the Gamechanger Audio Recorder. This limited-edition stompbox is so unique, the company admits it’s still exploring its full potential, dubbing it a “spectral morphing workstation” designed to transform recorded phrases into “a living, breathing, unique audio effect.”

Forget your standard looper. The Recorder acts as an oddball cousin to traditional loop pedals, taking a recorded audio phrase—be it a riff, melody, or even feedback—and warping it into spectral realms using an array of bizarre and powerful controls.

How the Recorder Works: From Simple Loop to Spectral Chaos

The device accommodates a recorded phrase up to 12 seconds in length. Depending on the phrase’s duration, it behaves in fundamentally different ways:

  • Short Phrases (50–200 ms): These function like spectral filters, resonators, or timbral imprints on your sound.

  • Longer Phrases: These evolve into complex rhythmic maps, vowel vocoders, and “phantom riffs” that interact subtly with your clean signal.

GA’s new creation is structured around three distinct, color-coded layers, each unlocking a different universe of sound manipulation:

  1. 🔴 Red Mode (Tonal/Rhythmic Distortion): Manipulates core elements like Tone, Pitch (offering an extreme eight-octave range), Damage (a dual-action control for digital degradation or aggressive harmonic chaos), and Stretch (speed).

  2. 🟡 Yellow Mode (Time-Based Modulation): Utilizes controls like Slice (for overlapping “spectral” repeats), Repeats, Resonance, and Distance for intricate, time-based effects.

  3. ⚪ White Mode (Frequency/Amplitude Shaping): Focuses on spectral dynamics, affecting Amplitude (adding or subtracting active frequencies), Attack, Decay, and Timbre (ranging from a clean resynthesis to a vocoder effect).

A New Digital Frontier for Experimental Sound

Gamechanger Audio, known for its radical, physics-bending pedals, views the Recorder as the first step into a new domain of digital-native instruments.

“Yes, we’re still the plasma people, motor people, still the team that pulled reverb out of infrared reflections on a metal spring,” the company stated, referencing their groundbreaking products. “That mission continues, but now, we’re venturing into a parallel universe… The Recorder is the very first creature to walk out of that laboratory.”

While the detailed, “bonkers science” behind the pedal suggests a steep learning curve, the payoff is a vast, unexplored universe of unpredictable and expressive sounds unlike anything currently available on a pedalboard.

Limited Availability: Don’t Miss Out

The Gamechanger Audio Recorder is a strictly limited-edition product. It is only available for purchase until December 10th, with each unit individually numbered and signed by the GA team. The company confirms there will be no reruns of this particular pedal.

The Recorder is available now for $249 and can be integrated into any standard pedalboard, requiring a common 9V power supply (not included).
