Zakk Wylde Unveils the Berzerker: A 50W Hybrid Amp Head Weighing Under 5lbs

Zakk Wylde’s new signature Berzerker amp is here. A 50W hybrid mini-head delivering legendary high-gain metal tones in a 5lb portable design. Shop the $629 "tone in a box" now.

The wait for the ultimate “tone in a box” is over. Zakk Wylde has officially launched his signature Wylde Audio Berzerker amplifier, a compact powerhouse designed to deliver the high-gain, mid-heavy roar the Black Label Society frontman is known for—without the back-breaking weight of a traditional stack.

Developed in collaboration with David Karon (the visionary behind KHDK Electronics), the Berzerker is the result of over two years of rigorous R&D and world-tour road testing.

Heavyweight Tone, Lightweight Build

While most fans expected a mammoth tube head from the “Prince of Darkness’s” longtime guitarist, Wylde has pivoted toward modern portability. The Berzerker is a 50-watt hybrid amplifier that weighs in at under 5lbs.

By utilizing a single ECC83 vacuum tube in the preamp paired with a high-performance solid-state power section, the amp captures Wylde’s legendary “juicy” midrange and aggressive gain structure in a chassis that fits in a backpack.

“This amp exists for one reason – to put my real tone in a box that makes sense today,” says Wylde. “No watered-down version, no extra junk. Just the same gain structure, feel, and low-mid punch I’ve always used.”

Key Features and Specifications

The Berzerker is designed for simplicity and raw power. While the front panel offers standard EQ controls, the “secret sauce” is hidden on the back.

  • Preamp Tube: 1x ECC83 (12AX7) for authentic tube grit.

  • The “Wylde” Knob: Located on the rear, this control adjusts the amp’s character from raw and open to a thick, saturated roar.

  • Integrated Cab Sim: Specially voiced to emulate Wylde’s iconic EV-loaded 4×12 cabinets.

  • Connectivity: Includes a serial effects loop for pedalboards and dual speaker outputs.

  • Control Layout: Master Volume, Presence, Treble, Middle, Bass, and Pre-amp Gain.

Limited Edition Zakk Sabbath Purple

To celebrate the launch, Wylde Audio released a Limited Edition Zakk Sabbath Purple version. This collector’s piece features a hand-signed chassis and a Certificate of Authenticity. However, purists will have to act fast or look to the secondary market—the initial run of 275 units has already sold out.

The standard Black Edition remains available for guitarists looking to nail those squealing pinched harmonics and brutal low-end chugs.
