Legendary British amplifier manufacturer Orange Amplification has officially announced a groundbreaking collaboration with global superstar Ed Sheeran. The partnership marks the launch of the Outlowd Ed Sheeran ES Series, a brand-new line of acoustic amplifiers built to deliver premium sound portability and performance for musicians on every stage of their journey—from bedrooms to street corners and professional venues.

Born out of a shared desire to inspire more people to play live music, the ES Series blends Orange’s legendary analog heritage and distinctive design with Sheeran’s deeply practical, real-world experience as a touring musician and former street busker.

The range introduces three distinct models engineered for versatility: the ultra-portable ES3, the performance-focused ES60, and the flagship ES100 acoustic amplifier and portable PA system.

“Where I Found My Voice” — Ed Sheeran on Grassroots Music

For Sheeran, this collaboration represents a return to his roots. The multi-Grammy-winning artist emphasizes that music culture thrives in local, intimate spaces.

“Music doesn’t start in arenas or on streaming platforms,” Sheeran said. “It starts in bedrooms, youth clubs, pubs, schools, parks, living rooms and street corners. That’s where I found my voice. I think tiny venues are super important to learn how to perform and busking teaches you not to sweat the big stuff.”

Sheeran added, “I wanted this project with Orange to feel honest to that—celebrating local musicians, local communities, and the idea that anyone can start somewhere… With this collaboration, it was like, would I use this? Is this something that I need in my life as a musician? And the answer was yes.”

Launching ‘Play It Home’: Giving Back to Local Talent

The hardware launch arrives alongside Outlowd: Play It Home, a global campaign spearheaded by Orange to support grassroots music infrastructure, youth music programs, and emerging local talent.

The campaign officially kicked off on Friday, June 5th, in Sheeran’s hometown of Ipswich, Suffolk. Approximately two thousand fans gathered to watch Sheeran perform an intimate 6-track set alongside local singer-songwriter Lianne Kaye.

In a heartwarming conclusion to the set, Sheeran gifted his brand-new performance amplifier to a 9-year-old local schoolboy named Felix. To further support Felix’s musical dreams, the campaign is fully funding his next 12 months of music lessons.

“It’s a real pleasure to work with Ed,” said Cliff Cooper, Founder and CEO of Orange Amps. “He is such a talented and caring person who does so much to introduce people into music.”

The Play It Home campaign will continue its global journey, stopping in major cities including Guildford, Toronto, Paris, Sydney, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Bamberg. Each stop will feature retailer-supported live sessions spotlighting local artists, alongside targeted equipment donations and financial grants for community youth music spaces.

Sarah Yule, Managing Director of Orange Amplification, summarized the spirit of the project: “The ES Series was designed around that journey; products that feel approachable, inspiring and genuinely useful for musicians at different stages of their musical lives.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which amplifier is best for street performing?

The Orange ES60 is specifically optimized for busking. With its 60W power output, dual-channel configuration (for a guitar and a microphone), +48V phantom power, and a long-lasting rechargeable battery, it provides everything a street performer needs in a single portable package.

Can the ES Series amps be used as normal Bluetooth speakers?

Yes. Both the ES3 and the ES60 feature integrated Bluetooth audio playback. This allows you to stream music from your phone or tablet, making them excellent choices for backing track accompaniment, casual listening, or practice.

When will the flagship ES100 be available?

While the ES3 and ES60 are available for purchase immediately, the flagship ES100 is currently available for pre-order and is scheduled to begin shipping globally on September 10, 2026.

What causes the campaign “Play It Home” to stand out?

Unlike standard corporate marketing, the Play It Home campaign actively reinvests in the cities it visits. It provides financial backing for local youth music programs, funds instrument lessons for beginners, and donates professional gear to community rehearsal spaces.

The Verdict

The collaboration between Ed Sheeran and Orange Amplification is far more than a simple celebrity endorsement; it is a meticulously designed ecosystem built by musicians, for musicians.

By scaling the lineup from a highly accessible £149 desk companion (ES3) to a professional gigging rig (ES100), Orange has successfully democratized high-fidelity acoustic amplification.

The standout of the lineup is undoubtedly the ES60, which masterfully solves the mobile performer’s paradox by balancing rich analog tone, massive volume, and true battery independence. Backed by the community-focused Play It Home campaign, this release is a triumphant win for grassroots live music.
