Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour has shocked fans by revealing his newfound love for the Gibson ES-335. The guitarist, synonymous with his iconic Black Strat, has admitted to discovering the “beauty” of the Gibson and incorporating it into his latest solo album, Luck and Strange.

In a recent episode of his YouTube series, David’s Guitars, Gilmour expressed his surprise at not discovering the ES-335 sooner. “I don’t know why I didn’t discover one of these a long time ago!” he exclaimed, captivated by the guitar’s tone. The iconic guitarist has always been a Fender Strat aficionado, but it seems the allure of Gibson’s distinct sound has proven irresistible.

Dark and Velvet Nights

The ES-335 features prominently on the upcoming album, particularly on the track Dark and Velvet Nights. Gilmour believes that experimenting with different guitars is essential for maintaining creative freshness. “Every time you play a guitar that you’re not used to, it gives you something,” he explained. “Sometimes, it gives you a song.”
