Canadian effects maker Diamond is returning a fan favorite – the Vibrato pedal – as part of its ongoing resurgence.

Diamond Pedals

SolidGoldFX acquired Diamond in late 2022 after facing financial difficulties. Last summer, the company relaunched with a series of new pedals, including overdrive, analog delay, tremolo, and EQ options.

Vibrato Returns

This reissued Vibrato boasts an all-analog, true-pitch sound with several modern features and a design optimized for pedalboards. It centers around the popular MN3007 bucket brigade chip, known for its warm, organic tones.

Diamond emphasizes that this isn’t just a simple reissue. They say it incorporates “decades of user feedback, improved technology, and modern features.”

These enhancements include better isolation for the audio path, top-mounted jacks, and soft-touch true bypass switching.

Despite the upgrades, the MN3007 chip remains key to achieving rich, warbling vibrato and chorus sounds reminiscent of the 70s and 80s guitar music.

According to Diamond, the result is “a natural, liquid-like pitch modulation with a rounded vintage texture and mojo” that surpasses digital emulations.

Compandor Circuit

An updated Compandor Circuit, borrowed from the Memory Land Jr. delay pedal, refines the pedal’s dynamics, offering a smoother, clearer vibrato with less noise and distortion.

Powering the pedal with 18VDC yields a richer, headroom-heavy vibrato, while 9VDC adds more character and warble to the tones.

The controls include knobs for Level, Speed, Chorus, and Depth, along with a Jazz switch for additional tonal shaping. This new pedal also offers a momentary or latching doubler function for an extra burst of vibrato speed.

Pre-Order

The first 800 units will be built using original NOS Panasonic BBD chips. The pedal is $279 and is available for pre-order now.
