Following the highly sought-after limited run in late 2024, Ernie Ball Music Man has officially launched the Tim Commerford Artist Series StingRay Bass as a standard production model. This time, the signature bass from the legendary Rage Against the Machine bassist is available in three striking new colors.

A Legendary Collaboration

The new standard release includes two versions of the bass: a passive model and an active model, each with its own exclusive finish.

Construction

The basses feature an ash body and a roasted maple neck with an ebony fretboard. The neck is finished in oil and wax for a smooth feel and features a sculpted 5-bolt neck join for easy access to all 22 stainless steel frets. A compensated nut ensures perfect intonation across the fretboard.

Tone and Features for the Modern Bassist

Both the active and passive models are equipped with a powerful StingRay humbucking pickup with neodymium magnets. This provides increased output and a wide range of tones, perfect for everything from Commerford’s aggressive rock style to more subtle grooves.

To enhance playability, the pickup system also includes a beveled cover with an integrated thumb rest and an adjustable finger ramp, making it comfortable for fingerstyle players.
