Fender Japan has announced its latest collaboration with the artistic project, Wasted Youth, spearheaded by the renowned artist Verdy. This collaboration is not just about creating unique instruments; it’s a celebration of a journey where “nothing has been wasted along the way.”
Wasted Youth
Wasted Youth, known for its high-profile partnerships, adds Fender Japan to its impressive roster, which already includes names like Casio and Budweiser. This isn’t the first time Verdy has worked with Budweiser, as evidenced by the striking Budweiser-themed design covering the Telecaster guitar in this new collection.
Budweiser
Verdy’s connection with Budweiser deepened in July last year when he became Budweiser Japan’s Creative Director. This role allowed him to infuse his unique design style into various products, including beer cans and fashion collections.
Wasted Youth Telecaster
Now, Verdy brings his creative flair to the world of guitars. The Wasted Youth Telecaster is a perfect blend of traditional design and bold artistic expression.
It features a classic alder body, a U-shape maple neck, a 21-fret rosewood fretboard, and vintage-style single coils, all adorned with striking Budweiser and Wasted Youth designs. This includes Budweiser logo-shaped inlays and a special neck plate, as well as a unique beer can sticker design that wraps around the entire body.
Wasted Youth Mustang Bass
For those who prefer a subtler design, the collection also includes a Mustang Bass. It features a more understated design with a Competition-style body stripe and the Wasted Youth logo, a dazzling Blue Sparkle finish, and the same special neck plate found on the Telecaster. The bass is equipped with an alder body, maple neck, and a ’60s Split single-coil pickup.
Accessories
Both instruments come with exclusive accessories, including a T-shirt, guitar picks, and a hard case with a hand-painted Wasted Youth logo stencil by Verdy himself.
Availability & Price
These limited-edition models will be available starting December 23, with 16 Telecasters and Mustang Basses in Fender Japan’s flagship store and 17 of each available online. Priced at 385,000 Japanese Yen (approximately $2,709 each), these instruments are a must-have for collectors and fans alike.
