Gibson Keb’ Mo’ “3.0” 12-Fret J-45: A tweaked J-45 for added comfort

The new Gibson Keb’ Mo’ “3.0” 12-Fret J-45 acoustic makes some subtle tweaks to the classic J-45 guitar formula.

The new Gibson Keb’ Mo’ “3.0” 12-Fret J-45 comes in a Vintage Sunburst finish and features an LR Baggs system, a custom Keb’ Mo’ neck profile and a 12th-fret neck joint. A perfect guitar for Blues acoustic players? This new model takes the standard J-45 recipe and tweaks it to perfection.

This Gibson Keb’ Mo’ “3.0” 12-Fret J-45 looks like a great acoustic for finger-picking blues lines on. It has a 12th-fret neck joint for comfortable playability and has 19 frets in total.

Whereas a regular J-45 has a 14th fret neck joint and the standard 20 frets.

Custom Neck

It comes with a custom Keb’ Mo’ profile mahogany neck and a 12”-radius rosewood fretboard, a bone nut and mother-of-pearl dot inlays.

Then it has a compound Dovetail neck-to-body joint that joins that custom neck to the guitar’s body.

X-Bracing

The body itself is made from mahogany back and sides and a thermally aged Sitka spruce top. Finished in a Vintage Sunburst finish without a pickguard.

The Advanced X-Bracing works with the LR Baggs VTC preamp and under saddle pickup, with soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls.

Hardware

Elsewhere this model features a set of Grover open-back tuners, a Belly Down closed slot rosewood bridge and black plastic bridge pins, plus a bone saddle, an adjustable truss rod and multi-ply binding on the guitar’s top.

The price includes a Gibson hardshell case.

  1. I assume the neck carve is the standard Gibson rounded “C” ?
    I can find no mention of the neck carve which is important to me. Thanks for a reply.
