Laney Amplification has officially launched its highly anticipated Digbeth Foundry Series of bass amplifiers, promising an impressive blend of powerful performance, versatile tone-shaping, and surprisingly affordable price points. From compact practice combos to gig-ready heads, this new lineup aims to offer a low-end amplification solution for every player.
From Bedroom to Big Stage: A Range for Every Bassist
The Digbeth Foundry Series offers a comprehensive suite of amplifiers designed to cater to diverse needs and budgets. The range kicks off with the DBF30 combo, a 30-watt powerhouse featuring an 8” HH driver, retailing at a mere £169. This compact unit is ideal for beginner bassists or those seeking a practice amp with serious punch, weighing in at just 8.3kg.
Despite its diminutive size, the DBF30 shares the robust aesthetic and many features of its larger siblings. Constructed with a 12mm MDF cabinet and steel-reinforced corners, it’s built to last.
Tone shaping is a breeze with a 3-band EQ, Tilt EQ, and a Preshape function for sculpting mids – a particularly appealing feature for slap bass and percussive players. A Drive switch delivers authentic tube-style grit, while an aux input and headphone out ensure silent practice capabilities.
Expanding on the series, Laney also introduces 50-watt and 100-watt combos, a 200-watt combo with a 15” driver, and a dedicated 200-watt head, ensuring there’s a bass amp to suit any gigging requirement.

Artist Endorsement and Pro-Level Features
Renowned Laney artist Charles Berthoud has already put the Digbeth Foundry series through its paces, offering glowing praise. “The Digbeth Foundry have incredible power and versatility for their size,” states Berthoud. “The DBF30 has so much bass response for something so small and budget friendly. Rear panel options like DI Out and FX Loop on the DBF50 and above are exactly what you need, any one of these amps could easily do a session or a gig, let alone for practice and rehearsal.”
The 50-watt DBF50 combo elevates the feature set with a 10” HH speaker, two footswitchable channels (FET and tube-style), and an effects loop for integrating external pedals.
Stepping up further, the 100-watt DBF100 boasts a 1×12” speaker, while the top-tier DBF200 combo features a single 15” HH driver. A particularly innovative feature on these larger models is the Mix setting, allowing players to blend the best characteristics of both the FET and Drive channels for a truly customized tone.

Maintaining the Legacy of Digbeth Power
James Laney, of Laney Amplification, emphasized the philosophy behind the new line: “The Digbeth Foundry Series takes the power, dynamism and response of our acclaimed Digbeth Bass amp range and forges them into creative, affordable, high-quality amplifiers that are practical, portable and a lot of fun.” He added, “Following the huge success of our award-winning Foundry guitar amps, we worked hard to develop a range of Foundry bass amps ensuring that the power, versatility and class of the Digbeth amp range was maintained.”
