A piece of rock history is up for grabs. Marty Friedman’s revered 1985 Jackson Kelly San Dimas, the axe behind countless iconic riffs and solos, is currently on the auction block. This guitar, one of the first 500 ever produced by Jackson, is estimated to fetch a staggering $125,000.

The instrument is synonymous with Friedman’s tenure in Megadeth, where it was a cornerstone of the band’s seminal albums, Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction.
Cacophony
But its legacy extends beyond those metal masterpieces. It also saw action on Cacophony’s Speed Metal Symphony and Go Off! and Friedman’s solo efforts, Dragon’s Kiss and Scenes.
Battle-Scarred
The guitar bears the marks of countless live performances. Scratches, dings, and chips tell a tale of a well-loved instrument that has witnessed rock ‘n’ roll history in the making.
Yet, despite its battle scars, the guitar is said to retain the signature “Marty Friedman” tone that has captivated fans for decades.
Tiger Striped
Originally sporting a black-and-white tiger-striped finish, the guitar underwent a transformation when Friedman joined Megadeth. It was repainted black and configured with a single humbucker.
It’s even rumored to have once boasted a flamethrower on the headstock—a testament to the wild spirit of the 80s metal scene.
The guitar is currently listed on Reverb and is open to being offered.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Jason Becker Special Needs Trust and the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
