Kirk Hammett is now a Gibson endorsee, after a tease earlier this week on Instagram, last night Gibson TV released a video confirming the Metallica guitarist was now part of the Gibson family.
Kirk Hammett joins Gibson
Kirk Hammett is known for playing ESP models and is an endorsee for the Japanese guitar brand, but he is also known for playing Gibson models. These models include the once owned by Peter Green and Gary Moore 1959 ‘Greenie’ Les Paul Standard, and the 1979 black and white Flying V that appeared on all the classic early Metallica albums, plus a bunch of vintage Gibson guitars in his vast collection.
You can see Kirk playing a just few of his Gibson guitars (in the photos taken by Brett Murray) on his Instagram page announcement.
“It’s a really great and exciting time for me to be joining forces with Gibson, I look forward to achieving great things together in the future.” Kirk Hammett
Epiphone and Gibson
Now in the latest Gibson TV video, Kirk talks to Cesar Gueikian about their new collaboration, which will include a new ‘unseen before’ new model, plus they talk a lot about Greenie and his Flying V. We can expect to see a lot of Gibson and Epiphone releases with Hammett’s name on over the coming years.
Expect to see a Murphy Lab-aged Flying V and maybe another release of the 1959 Greenie Les Paul. Exciting times are ahead for sure, and you can watch the full video below to hear Kirk talking about his love for Gibson guitars.
