Mooer has unveiled the SD10i, a diminutive yet mighty practice amp designed to rival Positive Grid’s popular Spark series.
Mooer SD10i
This latest addition to Mooer’s ‘intelligent amp’ lineup packs a punch despite its compact size. The 10-watt SD10i is the smaller sibling to the impressive SD30i; both have been positioned as strong contenders against Positive Grid’s offerings.
It is packed with features, including a built-in tuner, rechargeable battery for portable play, Bluetooth for audio playback and app control, and space for nine different amp models.

Mooer is known for delivering high-quality guitar gear at affordable prices. With the SD10i, Mooer has once again outdone itself. Weighing in at a mere 4.3 lbs, this versatile amp is packed with features that belie its size.

Feature-Rich and Affordable
The SD10i boasts an impressive array of features, including:
- 52 amp models: Captured using Mooer’s MNRS technology
- 49 effects: Covering dynamics, distortion, overdrive, modulation, delay, and reverb
- 40 drum machine varieties
- 80-second synchronizable looper
- Built-in tuner
- Rechargeable battery
- Bluetooth connectivity
- USB-C for direct recording
- Headphone jack
While the SD10i may lack the raw power of the Spark 2’s 50 watts, it compensates with a broader range of amp models, effects, and a longer looper. Mooer’s companion app allows for in-depth customization of amps and effects, offering a level of control similar to Positive Grid’s software.

The Competition Heats Up
The SD10i’s release follows Positive Grid’s Spark 2, intensifying the competition in the smart amp market. While the Spark 2 offers a more comprehensive control panel and innovative AI features, the SD10i provides a more affordable and portable alternative.
Ultimately, the choice between the Mooer SD10i and the Positive Grid Spark 2 will depend on individual preferences and priorities. Those seeking a feature-packed, budget-friendly option will likely find the SD10i appealing, while players who prioritize hands-on control and advanced AI features may lean towards the Spark 2.
Mooer has once again demonstrated its ability to deliver exceptional value and performance in a compact package. The SD10i is a compelling option for guitarists seeking a versatile and affordable practice amp.

I believe you compare apples to bananas here. I don’t think the SD10i was meant to compete with the Spark 2 but rather the Spark Mini, while the SD30i was meant to go up against the 1 gen Spark, and the latest Spark 2 does not have any competition by Mooer yet.
Chinese manufacturers rarely invest much into researching new features and product development themselves, but rather they wait until others do it, they figure out which are the features that were liked by end users. Only then, they come up with their own product which has all the cool features a little bit improved, paying attention to the user feedbacks of the original product. This is what we see here with the Spark Mini.
