Victory Amplification has announced the release of the new Duchess MKII series, a major update to its acclaimed line of boutique guitar amplifiers. This new range, which includes multiple heads and a combo, enhances the original’s revered tonal platform with a focus on greater versatility and sonic control for guitar players.
Key Features of the Duchess MKII Series
Since its founding in 2013 by renowned designer Martin Kidd, Victory Amps has become a leading name in boutique tube amps, trusted by professional musicians worldwide. The Duchess MKII series continues this legacy, providing a versatile platform that seamlessly blends classic and modern amp circuits for the modern guitarist.
The Duchess MKII amps, built on a decade of development, introduce several key features that set them apart. The new lineup includes a 3-way voice switch, a 3-way mid kick boost, and an upgraded reverb system.
These latest additions allow guitarists to effortlessly shape their sound, from pristine, bell-like cleans reminiscent of classic American amps to a focused, mid-gain crunch with a distinctly British feel.
Victory V40 The Duchess Compact Head MKII
The flagship of the series, the Victory V40 The Duchess Compact Head MKII, packs 42 watts (switchable to 7W) of high-headroom tone into a portable wooden enclosure. Powered by a pair of EL34 valves, this amp is designed for dynamic response and tonal flexibility. Its standout features include:
- Expanded Voicing: The new 3-way voice switch offers more control over the amp’s lower mids, making it easier to match the tone to any guitar, pickup, or genre.
- Dual Reverb Voices: The improved digital reverb system now provides two distinct options: a classic spring reverb and a more modern, ambient voice for subtle to immersive effects.
- Mid-Kick Boost: Players can now dial in their perfect tone with the 3-way mid kick boost switch, which provides options for increased lower mids, more gain on the upper mids, or a flat response, ideal for cutting through any mix.

A Full Lineup of New Amps
The Duchess MKII series offers a full range of options for every player. In addition to the compact head, Victory has released:
- V40 The Duchess Deluxe Head MKII & Deluxe Combo MKII: Featuring 6L6 valves and a valve-powered tremolo and spring reverb, these amps deliver a unique tonal flavor. The combo model is equipped with a Celestion G12H-75 Creamback speaker.
- V40 The Duchess Lunchbox Head MKII: This ultra-portable head offers all the new MKII features in a smaller, lighter form factor with a padded carry bag included.
- V140 The Super Duchess Head MKII: The most powerful amp in the series, this 96-watt (switchable to 30W) head features four 6L6 valves for maximum clean headroom.
Made in Britain
All amps in the series are proudly made in Britain using high-quality components and custom-designed transformers, a hallmark of Victory Amplification’s commitment to boutique tone and road-ready reliability. The new design also features a refreshed logo and a more streamlined aesthetic.
