From Secret Boutique Custom Builds to Mainstage Rigs
What started as custom pedal builds by Alex Saraceno for his son, Blues Saraceno (former Poison lead guitarist), quickly turned into one of tone-chasers’ best-kept secrets.
Over the past two decades, Dirty Boy built a near-mythical reputation among session elites like Tim Pierce and Phil X, as well as rock heavyweights including John Frusciante, Tom DeLonge, Neal Schon, and Linkin Park.

“For me, choosing the right partner was everything because these circuits have a history and personality that I wasn’t willing to compromise,” said Danny Gomez, owner of Dirty Boy Pedals. “Warm Audio understands how to build authentic circuits the right way… Every pedal is individually hand-tested before it ever reaches a player.”
Breakdown of the Dirty Boy Jr. Lineup
| Pedal | Inspired By Circuit | Key Secret Weapon | Sound Profile |
| Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive | Dirty Boy Preamp | Proprietary T.A.E. Tech + Variac Control | British amp-like sag, rich preamp saturation, speaker-emulated direct output |
| Dirty Boy Jr. Booster | “Ball Buster” Boost | 3-Way H-M-L Frequency Selector | +10dB transparent volume boost expanding into low/mid-gain saturation |
| Dirty Boy Jr. Fuzz | “Afro Fuzz” | 6-Position Frequency Rotary Switch | Classic 1960s British fuzz tone with surgical EQ control & dynamic cleanup |
1. Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive
An all-analog preamp, amp simulator, and overdrive in one unit. Powered by Tube Amp Emulation (T.A.E.) technology, it delivers British-voiced overdrive and dynamic touch sensitivity.

-
The Variac Simulator: Adjusts voltage-style compression and power-supply sag, mimicking cranked late-’70s high-gain stacks.
-
Direct Output: Features a dedicated 4×12 closed-back “Greenback” cabinet-emulated line output, allowing players to run directly into FOH mixing consoles, audio interfaces, or FRFR cabs.

2. Dirty Boy Jr. Booster
Based on the coveted “Ball Buster” circuit, this high-headroom boost delivers +10dB of clean gain while naturally pushing tube amps into organic saturation.

-
H-M-L Frequency Control: A dedicated low-end switch lets players sculpt the low-frequency response from tight, articulate punch to thick, woolly body.
-
Tone Shaping: Active Treble and Bass controls cure cable tone loss and fine-tune your rig’s presence.

3. Dirty Boy Jr. Fuzz
Recreating the famous “Afro Fuzz,” this pedal updates mid-to-late ’60s circular British fuzz circuits with modern versatility.

-
6-Position Rotary Selector: Radically shifts the voice of the fuzz across six distinct frequency bands—taking you from smooth, overdrive-adjacent textures to blistering, mix-cutting fuzz.
-
Dynamic Interaction: Highly responsive to guitar volume pot adjustments and picking attack.

Verdict & Final Score
Warm Audio and Dirty Boy Pedals have achieved something rare here: capturing the true response, harmonic complexity, and feel of rare, handmade boutique gear without pushing the price into collector territory.
The addition of practical features—like the Overdrive’s speaker emulation and direct out—makes these units just as essential for home studios as they are for live pedalboards.
