The new Wren and Cuff Eye See ‘78 OG is a Big Box version of a classic V4 circuit Big Muff, with some tweaks to the original vintage design and build quality.

Eye See ‘78 OG

This latest Wren and Cuff pedal is called the Eye See ‘78 OG and it is based on the 1978 Op-Amp version of the Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi.

Rare Op-Amp Version

In 1978, this now vintage Muff circuit design changed drastically. The transistors inside were scrapped in favor of operational amplifiers, otherwise known as op-amps (which are integrated circuits, or ICs, hence the name).

This particular variant was only manufactured for around two years, and as such, only a few thousand ever made it out of NYC.

Billy Corgan

The Eye See ‘78 utilizes this drastically different design to produce what Wren and Cuff describe as a monstrous and wooly vintage sound.

Just like the tone that was popularized by Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins on the Siamese Dream album.

Big Box & Bypass

Just like the standard Eye See ‘78, the new Big Box version is an authentic replication of the V4 circuit with the added bonus of the V5 tone bypass switch,

The tone bypass switch removes the passive tone stack from the circuit, resulting in a mid-bump, volume boost, and a significantly more raw and open sound.

This new pedal features 100% through-hole components on a vintage-style circuit board and specially selected ICs for an authentic vintage tone.

It comes in a heavy-duty folded steel enclosure and has a true hard-wire bypass.

These pedals are all built in Los Angeles and will last a lifetime, so expect a great build quality.

MSRP – $324.99
