This Fender Sho Watanabe Telecaster limited edition model in a sparkling gold finish is covered in the artist’s work and is an exclusive model for Japan.
Sho Watanabe Telecaster
The Fender Sho Watanabe Telecaster is an exclusive model available from the Fender Flagship store in Tokyo, Japan, or via the online Japanese store. It follows on from the recent Souichiro Yamauchi Stratocaster Custom limited edition model that came out in October.
As ever Fender Japan gets the more unusual and interesting releases when compared to the US and European markets. Though, this one certainly looks a lot more like a collector’s piece.
Gold
It comes with a sparkling gold finish with black binding and is covered in Sho Watanabe’s artwork, also in black, over a standard alder Telecaster body. It also has a matching plain black one-ply pickguard.
It looks like a rosewood fretboard is paired with the maple neck on this model. Plus, if you flip the guitar over, there is also a color “Watanabe Tiger” sticker on the back of it.
Limited Edition
It goes on sale on 23 November 2023 and is a limited run, so will probably sell out fairly quickly. Hopefully, the Fender Japan site will release more details about the specifications for this model, as currently, it doesn’t divulge many of the details.
MSRP – 220,000 yen
Watanabe Tiger Plectrums
There is also a set of 6 original picks of “Watanabe Tiger” available in a matching tin to go with the release, priced at 1,760 yen.
