Catalinbread Sinkhole is a harmonically rich “hole” reverb with an impossibly deep four-voice chorus, possibly their most ethereal reverb yet

Catalinbread introduces the Sinkhole, a modulated reverb pedal that stands out for its ethereal sound quality.

Catalinbread Sinkhole

The Catalinbread Sinkhole blends a rich “hole” reverb with a deep four-voice chorus, equipped with feedback control and a high-cut filter. This design enables the Sinkhole to produce unique modulation effects, ranging from comb filtering to haunting auto-filtering, all within the reverb’s scope.

The Feedback control in the Sinkhole serves a dual purpose. It adjusts the feedback amount in the chorus circuit and controls the depth of the chorus. This single knob offers a range of varied effects, encouraging users to explore its full potential. The MIX control allows for a standard wet-dry blend, ranging from a clean signal through the onboard preamp to full reverb.

Additionally, the MOD control adjusts the rate of chorus modulation, offering a spectrum from slow, barely discernible rates to more dramatic effects. The VERB knob functions like a dual gain and mids control, feeding a variable amount of signal back into the circuit, enhancing the midrange, and adding a glossy saturation.

True Bypass or Buffer

The pedal also features a VOL control for adjusting the gain of the onboard preamp, which can act as a clean boost with or without reverb. An internal True Bypass/Buffer Switch, accessible by removing the backplate, allows users to choose between cutting off reverb trails immediately or letting them ring out after disengagement. The Sinkhole ships in buffered mode by default.

With its maximum decay time stretching the reverb trails and evoking warm synthesizer pads, the Sinkhole is a versatile tool for guitarists seeking unique soundscapes. It combines practicality with creative potential, making it a noteworthy addition to Catalinbread’s line of effects pedals.
