Vox AC Hand-Wired Series. This new collection is a tribute to the classic Vox AC15 and AC30 amps, cherished by legends like the Beatles, Brian May, and The Edge. Each model in this series aims to replicate the vintage sound with remarkable accuracy.
Vox AC Hand-Wired Series
Celebrating their ’60s legacy, Vox has meticulously researched the original AC15 and AC30 designs. This led to significant enhancements in the power supplies, output transformers, and cabinet construction of the new series. A standout feature is the hand-wired circuitry, ensuring top-notch sound quality.
7 New Models
The series boasts seven models, including the compact AC4 Hand-Wired practice amp and the impressive AC30X Hand-Wired. Each model has been carefully designed to revive the quintessential Vox tone. The range includes various output powers, with Hand-Wired versions of the AC10, AC15, AC15X, and AC30, plus an AC30 head paired with a V212X cabinet.
Tube Tone
Internally, Vox has selected high-quality tubes for each amp. Models are equipped with ECC83/12AX7 and EL84 valves, with higher wattage versions featuring additional ECC81/12AT7 and GZ34 valves.
Speakers are another highlight, with models boasting either one or two 12” GM12 Greenback speakers, or 12” Alnico Blue speakers for the ‘X’ versions.
Redesigned Cabinets
Vox’s dedication is evident in the construction of these amps. Research indicated that the thinner cabinet materials of vintage AC units played a key role in their unique sound. Thus, each Hand-Wired model replicates this design aspect to produce a rich, expansive midrange.
High End
Vox describes the series as a perfect blend of form and function, where every component contributes to achieving a sound faithful to the original. This launch reinforces Vox’s commitment to high-end, hand-wired amplifiers, a bold move in an era of digital alternatives.
The AC Hand-Wired Series is set to ship this June. Prices will be announced soon, promising a blend of vintage charm and modern craftsmanship for discerning musicians.
