Behringer Boogerfooger pedals have now all been teased by the company. Consisting of four direct clones of the classic Moog analogue pedals. The original pedals are now highly sought after and so these clones could be very popular indeed.
Boogerfooger Clones
Behringer hasn’t yet announced any official pricing or release dates for these pedals yet, but says that their design is complete and that they are “now moving them all to beta testing.”
Below of the list of all four Boogerfooger clones
- The Behringer BM-101 Low Pass Filter clones the Moog MF-101 Lowpass Filter.
- The Behringer BM-103 Phaser clones the Moog MF-103 12-Stage Phaser.
- The Behringer AD-104 Analog Delay clones the Moog MF-104M Analog Delay.
- The Behringer BM-107 Frequency Box clones the Moog MF-107 Freqbox.
They have not yet stated if they plan to make clones of the other Moogerfooger effect pedals from the original run: MF-102S Ring Modulator, MF-105S MuRF and the MF-108S Cluster Flux.
Moogerfooger Plugins
Currently, Moog only sells the recently released Moogerfooger effects as a suite of plugins. Which I own and think are very good emulations. Plus, they work in your DAW with no noisy wiring or integration hassles, which I find a huge bonus when recording.
The Internet Argues
This announcement via the company’s Facebook page already has musicians arguing over the ethics of cloning classic music equipment.
That, and when will Behringer actually release these? As the company keeps teasing new products, but with no actual release dates on the horizon.
At the end of the day, these cheaper Chinese-manufactured clones will enable musicians to create new music. Rather than chasing the original American-built originals that are now out of production and becoming expensive on the used market.
