BOSS is taking a bold leap into the future with the release of the PX-1 Plugout FX, a groundbreaking digital stompbox that puts 16 classic BOSS pedals in a single unit. This innovative new pedal, a concept familiar to Roland’s synth users, offers guitarists and other musicians an unprecedented level of versatility and convenience on their pedalboards.
A Library of Legends in One Box
The BOSS PX-1 arrives pre-loaded with eight iconic effects, including the legendary DS-1 Distortion, OD-1 Over Drive, and CE-2 Chorus. But that’s just the beginning. Through the BOSS Effect Loader app, users can wirelessly load an additional eight effects from a curated list of BOSS classics.
Swap Pedals
The pedal acts as a “hardware platform” allowing users to easily swap out and use a whole range of effects, effectively giving them a complete arsenal of tones in a compact, single-pedal format.

LCD
The pedal’s small LCD screen and three multi-function push encoder knobs make it simple to navigate menus and adjust effect parameters. The USB-C port handles power and app connectivity, while an optional expression pedal or footswitch can be used for seamless transitions between two predefined effects. It also has MIDI in for syncing time-based effects.
The Roland Cloud Ecosystem
The new unit is deeply integrated with the Roland Cloud ecosystem, a point that has sparked both excitement and debate among musicians. The pedal purchase includes a six-month subscription to Roland Cloud Ultimate, allowing users to access the software versions of the same effects for music production.
More Pedal Models Coming
BOSS has also announced plans to continually expand the pedal’s capabilities. Starting in January 2026, new effects developed with their latest emulation technology will be available for a one-time fee, providing an ongoing stream of new sounds for the platform.
Pricing and Availability
The BOSS PX-1 Plugout FX is available for purchase for $249,99/£229/€269, and includes a six-month Roland Cloud Ultimate subscription.
