Laney has been building amplifiers in Birmingham since 1967, and its first customer of note was Tony Iommi, which is roughly as good a founding story as a British amp company could ask for. Laney Amplification was founded in Birmingham, England in 1967 by Lyndon Laney, who remains its chief executive. It is now based in Halesowen and is one of the small group of British amplifier companies that date to the birth of loud rock guitar.
Who owns Laney?
The Headstock Group, which trades as Headstock Distribution. Laney continues to design and market under its own name, with the company's founder still in place, but ownership sits with that group rather than being independent.
What are Laney amps known for?
An association with heavy British rock from the beginning — early Black Sabbath is the connection most often cited — carried through into the modern Ironheart high-gain range. The Lionheart line, at the other end, is a boutique-styled low-wattage valve series aimed at cleaner and classic sounds.
Are Laney amps made in the UK?
