Four friends with backgrounds in digital algorithms, hardware engineering, manufacturing and sales founded Mooer Audio in Shenzhen, China, in 2010, betting on compact digital pedals rather than the full-size stompbox format most competitors were still building around. The Micro series, shrinking classic overdrive, delay, reverb and modulation effects into tiny enclosures, was what first got the brand noticed, and later artist collaborations — including a signature pedal with Devin Townsend — broadened its catalogue into multi-effects and preamp modellers.
