Adrian Thorpe spent his career as a British Army explosive ordnance disposal officer, building pedals on the side as a form of relaxation because nothing on the market matched what he wanted for himself. His wife Georgia encouraged him to turn the hobby into a business after he left the army, and ThorpyFX released its first pedal, the Gunshot Overdrive, in 2015. The pedals are built around custom machined stainless steel enclosures — heavier and more expensive to produce than the usual diecast box, but part of why ThorpyFX has a reputation for genuinely rugged build quality. It's still a family operation, run from Wiltshire, England, by Adrian, Georgia and, by their own account, a dog named Oppenheimer. New releases and artist collaborations are what we cover most.
