Buzzing Bugs Audio Devices Bolster: A Mythic Two-Channel Giant Fuzz Pedal
Boutique pedal maker Buzzing Bugs Audio Devices launches the Bolster Fuzz, a dual-channel stompbox blending Tone Bender, Muff, and high-gain op-amp tones

Expanding its acclaimed lineup of boutique effects pedals, Buzzing Bugs Audio Devices has officially launched the Bolster, a massive two-channel giant fuzz pedal. Combining versatile silicon transistor textures with a ferocious op-amp boost, this new stompbox delivers everything from classic vintage drive to wall-of-sound doom sustain.

Bolster – Two Distinct Fuzz Channels in One Enclosure

The core of the Bolster lies in its dual-channel, multi-faceted design, offering guitarists and bassists an incredibly wide sonic palette.

The main channel utilizes a silicon transistor and a high-gain fuzz circuit. It seamlessly spans from a classic, articulate Tone Bender-esque overdrive to a gated, synthy buzzsaw texture.

This is achieved through the innovative VOLTS control, which allows users to intentionally starve or saturate the circuit’s voltage. Additionally, the pre-amp stage features a unique SHIFT control, giving players unparalleled command over the fullness and shape of their input signal before it even hits the gain stage.

When players need to take their tone over the edge, the “MORE” channel steps in. Engaged via a dedicated foot switch, this secondary channel unleashes a speaker-destroying, one-knob op-amp fuzz. The result is a monolithic amount of sustain and a massive volume boost designed to cut through any mix.

  • GAIN: Sweeps smoothly from sparkling, gritty cleans to growling, high-gain fuzz.

  • TONE: A modified, highly flexible Muff-style tone stack with a wide EQ sweep.

  • MASTER: Controls the overall output volume of the pedal.

  • MORE: A dedicated footswitch that engages the second high-sustain op-amp fuzz channel.

Introducing BOLSTER, a giant fuzz

Inspired by Cornish Folklore

True to the company’s roots, the Bolster pays homage to the myths and legends of Buzzing Bugs’ home county of Cornwall, England. The pedal is named after Bolster, the Cornish Giant, a legendary beast who famously lived near the rugged cliffs of Chapel Porth and terrorized local villagers. Much like its mythical namesake, the Bolster fuzz delivers a gargantuan, untamable sound that completely overpowers anything in its path.

Pricing and Availability

The Buzzing Bugs Audio Devices Bolster giant fuzz is available now. It carries a street price of $240 USD / £179.00 and can be purchased directly from the manufacturer.
