UPDATE – Now with AI!

Quilter Labs Launches Elevate AI: Text-to-Tone for Guitarists

Quilter Labs has introduced Elevate AI, a free, browser-based AI tone engine for its Elevate multi-effects pedal ($499). Instead of menu-diving and manually tweaking knobs, players can now use natural language to instantly dial in their sound.

How It Works

  1. Connect: Plug the Elevate pedal into a computer via USB and open the platform in a web browser (no app download required).

  2. Describe: Type the tone you want using natural language (e.g., “Eric Johnson’s lead tone on Cliffs of Dover” or “warm Fender cleans with tape echo”).

  3. Play: In about 15 seconds, the AI analyzes the request, configures all 14 effects blocks, and loads the preset directly onto the pedal.

Key Features

  • On-Demand Tone Generation: This is not a static preset library. The AI builds unique tones from scratch, and you can easily refine them with follow-up prompts like “add more gain” or “cut the highs.”

  • Boutique-Quality Algorithms: The pedal’s 14 effects blocks were designed by Brian Neunaber (creator of the acclaimed Wet Reverb and Immerse pedals), ensuring professional sound quality.

  • Smart Ecosystem: The AI learns your personal preferences over time. It also features unlimited cloud backup and a global community platform to share and download user-generated tones.

Quick Specs

  • Effects Blocks: 14 purpose-built blocks (including compression, gain, modulation, delay, reverb, and cab simulation)

  • Performance: 1.6ms latency | < 5-second boot time

  • Storage: 400 onboard presets + unlimited cloud backup

  • Connectivity: USB (also functions as an audio interface), stereo XLR out, MIDI, and expression pedal input

  • Price: $499 (Elevate AI access is completely free for owners)

The Quilter Elevate is available in the US from Sweetwater, priced at $499Guitar Center at $499, and available in the EU for purchase at Thomann, priced at $537 / £484 / €549.

Will This Pedal Change The Entire Guitar Industry? | Quilter Elevate AI

Streamlined Simplicity Over Complexity

The Quilter Elevate distinguishes itself from industry giants like the Kemper or Quad Cortex by prioritizing ease of use. It’s a “no-nonsense” approach that some musicians, particularly those overwhelmed by the complexity of modern multi-effects units, will find incredibly appealing.

The pedal is built around ten fixed-effect blocks, including a Noise Gate, Wah, Compressor, and gain stages, ensuring a consistent and predictable signal chain.

Key Features of the Quilter Elevate:

  • 14 Essential Effects: The Elevate comes loaded with a comprehensive set of effects, including wah, compressor, pre and post EQ, gain, a noise gate, tremolo, stereo and tri-chorus, vibrato, flanger, detune, echo, reverb, and a cabinet simulation. This curated selection provides all the essential tools for crafting a wide range of sounds, from classic British crunch to warm American blues tones.
  • 400 Preset Slots: With 400 available slots—100 of which are pre-installed factory presets—guitarists have ample space to save and organize their favorite tones for different gigs and songs.
  • Rapid Performance: The Quilter Elevate boasts an impressive boot time of under 15 seconds, significantly faster than many competitors. Its ultra-low latency of just 1.6 ms ensures a responsive and natural playing experience, crucial for live performance.
  • Web-Based Control via Bluetooth: Instead of a traditional mobile app, the Elevate is controlled via a web app accessible through any modern browser (Chrome, Opera, Edge). This unique Bluetooth connectivity approach guarantees long-term compatibility, ensuring the pedal remains usable even as new smartphone models and operating systems are released.
