‘Lost Paisley’ Telecaster
This exceptional signature model transcends the typical artist collaboration. It’s a meticulous resurrection of a unicorn finish – the original Blue Paisley – applied to a top-tier vintage-inspired build.
The story behind this remarkable guitar began with Paisley’s own restoration journey of a 1967 Telecaster. Serendipitously, he acquired a genuine sheet of the original Blue Paisley Cling-Foil, the very material used briefly in the late 1960s to adorn Fender Telecasters and Telecaster basses with their iconic psychedelic patterns.
These eye-catching metallic Paisley finishes, a vibrant symbol of the late ’60s counterculture, proved to be ephemeral, discontinued by 1969 due to their delicate nature.
This fleeting existence has elevated original Paisley Telecasters to mythical status among vintage guitar enthusiasts. For Paisley, whose very name echoes the legendary finish, recreating this lost gem became a personal passion project.
Glaser Bender
Collaborating with esteemed guitar historian Zac Childs and the renowned Joe Glaser (of Glaser Bender fame), Paisley embarked on a quest to bring this vision to life. The result is a stunning instrument that captures the essence of a bygone era while boasting modern playability and exceptional tone.
“From the very beginning there has always been a pattern following me, from the moment they wrote my last name on my birth certificate,” Paisley enthusiastically shared. “It’s unreal that my own name is one of the coolest finishes I think Fender has ever done. This is an attempt to show what this lost color could have been. It’s the best guitar I’ve ever had.”
Seymour Duncan
The Lost Paisley Telecaster is undeniably a premium instrument, loaded with Paisley’s preferred specifications. It features hand-wound Seymour Duncan pickups, delivering a rich and articulate sonic palette.
The comfortable Custom ‘60s Oval C-profile maple neck ensures smooth playability, while the inclusion of Glaser’s innovative “G” Bender adds a distinctive pedal steel-like twang, a signature element of Paisley’s sound.
Lightweight Body
Beyond the captivating aesthetics, showcased beautifully by a single-ply transparent acrylic pickguard, the construction of this Telecaster is truly exceptional.
It boasts an alder body with paulownia wings and a resonant spruce top and back. True to its vintage inspiration, the guitar features Custom Shop aging, including wear on the 7.25” radius maple fingerboard.
Completing this remarkable package are vintage-style tuners, a bone nut, a premium leather guitar strap, a certificate of authenticity, and a custom hard-shell guitar case.
