Fender Japan has once again pushed the boundaries of iconic guitar design with their latest release: the American Pro II Cabronita Telecaster. This Japanese-exclusive, American-made limited-edition model takes the classic Cabronita formula and gives it a fresh spin by incorporating a pair of DiMarzio Minibuckers.
A Departure from the Traditional
Known for their Gretsch-inspired Filtertron-style pickups, Cabronita Telecasters have maintained a consistent design for years. However, Fender Japan’s American Pro II Cabronita offers something different. Including DiMarzio Minibuckers opens up a world of tonal possibilities, from clean country twangs to high-gain rock sounds.
DiMarzio Minibuckers: A Versatile Choice
Dimarzio describes their Vintage Minibuckers as offering “chime and shining with extreme levels of amp gain.” This means they can handle both clean and distorted tones without getting muddy. Whether you’re playing blues, country, or rock, these pickups have you covered.
Core Features Remain Intact
Beyond the pickups, the American Pro II Cabronita Telecaster retains the core features of the American Professional II series. This includes a mahogany body and neck, a Deep C-shaped neck profile, and a hardtail six-saddle bridge. The guitar also features 22 medium jumbo frets on a 12″ radius rosewood fretboard with mother-of-pearl dot inlays and a bone nut.
A Simple Yet Effective Control Layout
Keeping things simple, the American Pro II Cabronita features a single volume knob and a three-way switch. This stripped-down control layout allows you to focus on playing without being overwhelmed by too many options.
Limited Edition and Availability
The Fender Japan American Pro II Cabronita is available in two limited-edition finishes: Crimson Transparent and Shoreline Gold. Both options come with a gloss-black painted headstock.
This exclusive model is available from Fender Japan for 324,500 Japanese Yen (approximately $2,185) and includes a hard case. It’s also worth watching for international availability, as this guitar has been known to go outside the Japanese market.
Thomann has both finishes available.

Sooo the American Pro II is neither built nor available in the US. Am I missing something here? WTF is wrong with Fender?
