Gibson has announced a vibrant new range of custom color options for its iconic ES-335 semi-hollowbody electric guitar. This beloved instrument, a cornerstone of music across genres for over six decades, now sports a fresh palette of finishes, offering players a chance to personalize their sound and style. The new colors are available for both the classic plain top ES-335 and a more elegant figured top version.

ES-335

The ES-335, first introduced in 1958, has earned its place as one of the most versatile guitars ever made. Its semi-hollow construction delivers a unique blend of warmth, sustain, and resonance, making it a favorite among rock, blues, jazz, country, and even metal players.

These new custom colors add another dimension to the ES-335’s appeal.

ES-335 Custom Color: A Classic Reimagined

The classic plain top ES-335 Custom Color is constructed with a layered maple/poplar/maple body, featuring a solid maple centerblock for enhanced sustain and feedback control.

The mahogany neck boasts a comfortable Rounded C profile, topped with a rosewood fretboard adorned with acrylic dot inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets.

A Graph Tech nut and Vintage Deluxe tuners ensure tuning stability, while the nickel-plated ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece provide rock-solid anchoring for the strings.

Calibrated T-Types

Gibson’s Calibrated T-Type humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions deliver a wide array of tonal possibilities. These pickups are hand-wired to individual volume and tone controls using 500k potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors, offering precise control over each pickup.

A three-way toggle switch allows for seamless transitions between pickup combinations. Stylish black Top Hat knobs with silver reflectors complete the elegant look. Each guitar comes with a Gibson hardshell case for protection.

This model is available in four eye-catching colors: Goldtop (exclusive to Gibson), Watermelon, Spearmint, and Ocean Blue.

ES-335 Figured Custom Color: Elevated Elegance

For players seeking a touch more sophistication, Gibson is also offering the ES-335 Figured Custom Color. This version features a denser AAA-figured maple top and a quartersawn mahogany neck, as well as a Rounded C profile. While sharing similar construction materials with the plain top model, the Figured version emphasizes a more traditional and refined aesthetic.

The rosewood fretboard and dimensions remain consistent with the Custom Color model. The Figured Custom Color also utilizes two calibrated T-style humbuckers, wired to familiar tone and volume controls with CTS pots and Orange Drop capacitors. Nickel hardware, including an ABR-1 bridge with a titanium saddle and Vintage Tulip tuners, further enhances the instrument’s premium feel.
