Orange Amps has made a splash at NAMM 2025 with the announcement of the O Tone 40, a new 40-watt Class A/B combo amplifier designed for both practice and small gigs. Amp designer and technical director, Ade Emsley, proudly introduced the amp, highlighting its surprising volume and versatile tonal palette.
O Tone 40
The O Tone 40 boasts a clean, 40-watt Class A JFET front end coupled with a Class A/B 40-watt output stage, driving a single 12” Voice Of The World speaker. Emsley emphasized the amp’s ability to deliver “ludicrously loud” volume when needed, while also maintaining excellent tone at lower levels, making it ideal for practice.

Tremolo
The amp features a straightforward control layout with bass, middle, treble, volume, reverb, and a bias-wobble analogue tremolo. The footswitchable tremolo offers a vintage vibe with modern convenience, while the digital spring reverb adds depth and dimension to the sound. A buffered low-impedance effects loop allows players to seamlessly integrate their pedalboards.

Warm Vintage Tones
Orange describes the O Tone 40’s voicing as warm and vintage, catering to players seeking classic tones. Despite its power and features, the amp remains remarkably portable, weighing in at just 11.7kg (25.9lb). The O Tone 40 offers a direct output for studio recording and direct connection to a PA system for live performances.
With an affordable street price of £329/$399, the O Tone 40 is positioned as an accessible option for a wide range of guitarists.
