While the AD200 has received significant upgrades, it still maintains its iconic ’70s aesthetic. The minimalist design, featuring a master volume, three-band EQ, and gain controls, remains unchanged. Adding a clean switch provides versatility for players who prefer a cleaner tone.

Tube Tone

The AD200 resembles its predecessor strongly, featuring the same preamp configuration with two ECC83s (12AX7) and an ECC81 (12AT7). The familiar control layout and impressive 200-watt output remain unchanged.

The new power amp, equipped with four KT88s (6556), delivers a more robust and powerful sound. Each tube slot features a 12-turn bias pot to accommodate potential tube shortages, allowing technicians to adjust the amp’s settings using a multimeter. This ensures compatibility with 6550s and KT88s, providing flexibility in tube choices.

  • Easier Valve Replacement: The AD200 now offers a more straightforward process for replacing valves, making maintenance more convenient for musicians.
  • Updated Speaker Cabs: Orange has also updated its bass cabs to complement the AD200’s improved performance. The new Celestion Pulse XL bass speakers provide a tight, punchy, low-end, and warm mid-range.
