PRS Guitars has announced the release of the new PRS SE NF 53, a powerful electric guitar that seamlessly blends vintage inspiration with contemporary performance. Designed for players seeking a versatile instrument with a timeless appeal, the SE NF 53 delivers exceptional musicality and a hum-free experience.
Uniquely PRS: Power and Musicality Without the Hum
At the heart of the PRS SE NF 53 lies a meticulously crafted foundation. Built with a resonant swamp ash body and a comfortable 22-fret, 25.5” scale length bolt-on maple neck and fretboard. According to PRS, this guitar embodies the quintessential spirit of the electric guitar. However, are they worth the price tag?
What truly sets the NF 53 apart are its innovative PRS Narrowfield DD “S” pickups. These specially designed “Deep Dish” pickups offer a wealth of power and musicality without the annoying hum often associated with single-coil-inspired tones.
They follow the SE NF3 S-style modelsand use a similar format, just in a T-style guitar shape instead.
Narrowfied Deep Dish pickups
“The PRS SE NF 53 is our answer to players who crave that classic electric guitar sound but demand modern reliability and performance,” says PRS “The Narrowfield DD ‘S’ pickups are a game-changer, offering a unique blend of articulation, snarl, and twang, all in a noiseless humbucker package.”

Deep Dive: PRS Narrowfield DD “S” Pickups
The secret to the Narrowfield DD “S” pickups’ exceptional performance lies in their unique construction. Featuring taller bobbins for more windings and extra metal pieces between the magnets, these pickups produce a focused, powerful tone.
The “S” variation further enhances their capabilities, delivering articulate low-end tones and the coveted snarl and twang that vintage guitar aficionados cherish.
Remarkably, these pickups achieve this rich, expressive sound as a noiseless humbucker, making the NF 53 incredibly receptive to gain and perfect for a wide range of musical genres.
Versatile Tone Shaping and Enhanced Resonance
Players will appreciate the straightforward yet effective control layout of the PRS SE NF 53. A volume and tone control paired with a 3-way blade pickup switch allows for effortless tone sculpting, enabling musicians to easily dial in their desired sound.
Further contributing to the guitar’s lively tone and remarkable resonance is the steel plate-style bridge with brass barrel saddles.
PRS Designed Tuners with Wing Buttons
This hardware combination ensures excellent sustain and an immediate, vibrant response. The PRS Plate-Style Steel Bridge is crafted from steel for a lively tone, complemented by brass saddles for enhanced sustain.
PRS Designed Tuners with Wing Buttons are lightweight, offering precise tuning stability without dampening the guitar’s natural tone. The Narrowfield DD “S” Pickups provide that “Deep Dish” design for full, articulate bass and musical highs, all in a hum-free format.

Verdict
They look nice, however, I think the price point is way too high for a two-pickup bolt-on neck made in a factory. Hopefully, in 2026, they will drop the price to something more reasonable for a guitar like this with these pretty basic specifications. Especially, as a PRS SE CE24 is nearly half this price at many PRS dealers currently.
Price & Availabilty
They are priced at an MSRP of $979/£979, and are available to order now.
