Paul Reed Smith (PRS) Guitars has unveiled four new colorways for its popular PRS SE Silver Sky model, designed in collaboration with Grammy-winning artist John Mayer. These fresh finishes, inspired by classic American fashion, are available alongside new maple fingerboard versions of previously rosewood-exclusive colors, further expanding the guitar’s appeal.
A Fresh Palette for a Best-Selling Guitar
The new colors—Derby Red, Trad Blue, Laurel Green, and Dandy Lion—add a vibrant new look to the SE Silver Sky line.
S-Style
These shades are reminiscent of iconic vintage guitars, giving the Stratocaster-inspired model an even more classic aesthetic. Mayer commented on the new finishes, stating, “These are time-tested hues that have been popular through decades, and I’m excited to share them with the world as the latest SE colorways.”

The affordable SE Silver Sky, a stripped-back version of Mayer’s signature model, has been a massive success since its 2022 debut.
It has been a consistent best-seller, frequently topping charts on platforms like Reverb. The new color options aim to build on this momentum by offering players a wider range of visual choices.
Maple Fingerboards
In addition to the new colors, PRS is also making previously rosewood-exclusive finishes available on its maple fingerboard models.
Players can now purchase the SE Silver Sky with a maple fretboard in Moon White, Stone Blue, Summit Purple, and Nylon Blue.
This move gives guitarists more options to customize their sound and feel, as the different tonewoods can slightly alter the instrument’s tonal character and playability.
The core specifications of the PRS SE Silver Sky remain unchanged. Each guitar features a poplar body, a bolt-on maple neck, and three 635JM “S” single-coil pickups, providing the classic, versatile tone that has made the model so popular. The guitars also maintain a 25.5” scale length, a two-point steel tremolo, and vintage-style tuners.
