ThorpyFX, the acclaimed boutique guitar pedal manufacturer, has unleashed a trio of new effects units inspired by the legendary British sci-fi comic 2000 AD. This collaboration with Rebellion, the multimedia studio behind the comics, celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Judge Dredd Megazine with three pedals themed around iconic characters: Judge Dredd, Judge Death, and Rogue Trooper.

The new line merges ThorpyFX’s reputation for rugged, high-quality audio gear with the distinct, dystopian aesthetic of the 2000 AD universe. Each limited-edition pedal features exclusive artwork from the collaboration and is built around one of ThorpyFX’s existing, award-winning designs.

Meet the Mega-City Tone Triumvirate

These comic book-themed pedals are built to withstand “the rigours of the road” and promise superior, consistent sound quality, making them a must-have for collectors and working musicians alike.

  • The Lawbringer (Judge Dredd Overdrive):This overdrive pedal is based on the popular, British-voiced ThorpyFX Gunshot. Aptly named for the uncompromising lawman, it aims to “place Law above all else.” The Lawbringer features a proprietary cascading ‘gain engine’ meticulously tuned to deliver maximum tonality across a wide range of amplifiers. It’s the perfect tool for laying down the sonic law.
  • The Deathbringer (Judge Death Distortion):For a more menacing tone, the Deathbringer is built on the foundation of the ThorpyFX Warthog distortion pedal. Designed with an American voice, this unit is billed as “the distortion to beat all others.” It offers a wide sonic palette, capable of dialing up anything from a clean boost to a searing fuzz.
  • Fallout Cloud (Rogue Trooper Fuzz):Embodying the “dark vengeful theme” of the dystopian Nu-Earth setting, the Rogue Trooper Fallout Cloud is a special edition of the original 2016 ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud. Described as a Triangle era-inspired fuzz, it delivers a soundscape as “massive as the wastelands found on Nu-Earth.”

A Creative Partnership with Comic History

The legendary 2000 AD comic book anthology first hit newsstands in 1977. Since 2000, it has been in the care of Rebellion, one of the world’s most successful independent video games studios, which also produces books, TV, film, and board games. This new partnership extends the 2000 AD brand into the world of boutique guitar gear.

In addition to the pedals, a range of funky guitar picks featuring the comic book art are also available.
