The Twin Boost, distinguished by its dual mono and stereo outputs, offers musicians unprecedented flexibility. It allows for differential gain boosts across various amplifiers, a feature ideal for diverse musical setups.

Hailing from La Spezia, a city more known for its maritime history than pedal production, OPFXS continues to push the envelope with its “digitally-controlled analog booster.” The Twin Boost is praised for its flat frequency response and minimal noise, even at high settings, ensuring a boost that is powerful yet tonally neutral. The MIDI input further enhances its versatility, allowing remote control and individual channel gain settings.

Analog

The pedal’s core—analog boost circuit—is deftly managed through digital controls. This unique combination not only ensures custom preset options but also enables MIDI controllability, a boon for live performances and intricate stage setups.

Boost

Designed for both subtlety and power, the Twin Boost can amplify signals up to 24 dB, making it a perfect match for tube amps, overdrives, and distortions. Its user-friendly interface, marked by a clear screen on the top left, displays essential settings such as the gain boost level and activation rate.

Moving beyond traditional boost pedals that offer a single boost level, the Twin Boost introduces a range of increment options. These can be activated instantly or set to swell gradually, fully utilizing the pedal’s MIDI compatibility and preset features.

Modes

A standout feature is its separate channel mode, which effectively doubles the pedal’s capabilities by cloning itself. Each channel operates with independent settings and presets, akin to having two booster pedals in one.

Control is made effortless with a dedicated knob for managing gain and preset transitions. Additionally, presets can be easily saved and recalled using a footswitch. Power requirements are minimal, with a standard 9V plug sufficing for operation. Its conventional size ensures it fits seamlessly into pedalboards of all configurations.

The F1 and F2 mini buttons allow you to configure various settings of the pedal: select between JOINT/SEPARATE modes, PRESET/GAIN STEP modes, number of presets, gain time factor, gain step factor, MIDI input channel.

Key Features

Key features include a numerical display for precise dB boost monitoring, two internal boost stages with joint or separate operation, preset and gain step modes, up to three savable presets, and a unique combination of silent relay and buffered bypasses. The pedal also boasts TRS jack sockets for input and output, along with a 3.5mm mini-jack for MIDI input.

The Twin Boost also includes a QR code linking to a handy quickstart guide,

MSRP – €150 (approximately $162/£130)
