Fender Japan resurrects rare 12-string Stratocasters and Telecasters, offering a powerful and unique sound.

Fender Japan has once again proven its status as a pioneer in guitar design. Following its Elemental Series’s success and cult classic models’ revival, the brand has now introduced a highly anticipated collection of 12-string Stratocasters and Telecasters.

12-String Stratocasters and Telecasters

These rare instruments have been highly sought after by guitarists for decades. While 12-string guitars are generally uncommon, Fender 12-strings are even more elusive. The original Fender Electric XII set the standard in the 1960s, but it wasn’t until the late ’80s that a 12-string Strat hit the market.

Despite brief appearances in the Classic Series and as Special Edition models, Fender’s 12-string offerings have been discontinued for over a decade. Fender Japan’s new release addresses this demand, bringing back two iconic models.

Inspired by the Electric XII, these 12-string Strats and Teles feature elongated headstocks to accommodate the extra tuning machines. Alder and ash bodies are paired with rosewood fretboard-topped maple necks, providing a classic Fender feel.

While the cosmetics may be familiar, the added six strings deliver a powerful and unique sound. The Stratocaster is available in 3-Color Sunburst, Lake Placid Blue, and Olympic White, while the Telecaster comes in Black and Natural.

Guitar Bomb Verdict

Here at Guitar Bomb, we are all huge fans of the Fender Japan release, and this latest announcement is exciting for anyone who needs a high-quality electric 12-string guitar.

Unfortunately, these limited-edition models are currently only available in Japan. While this may disappoint international fans, Fender’s affordable Jazz XII from the Squier Paranormal Series offers a more accessible option for those seeking a 12-string experience.
