Musician and extraterrestrial enthusiast Tom DeLonge (Blink-182, Angels & Airwaves) has launched his most unique and expensive gear offering yet: 10 one-of-a-kind Fender Starcaster guitars, each containing genuine fragments of meteorites from the cosmos, including samples from the Moon and Mars.
The exclusive collection, dubbed the Ad Astra 10 guitars, was unveiled by DeLonge’s gear and media brand, To The Stars (TTS), to celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary, masterfully blending the guitarist’s two great passions: rock music and space exploration.
"I’ve always believed music connects us to something bigger – and these guitars literally came from outer space,” says DeLonge. “They’re playful, they’re punk, and they each have their own weird little soul. I’m excited for people to hold something this special.”
Extraterrestrial Craftsmanship
Inspired by a cosmically created Custom Shop Starcaster that featured meteorite dust, the Ad Astra 10 initiative pushes the boundaries of instrument design. Each guitar underwent an extensive transformation by master craftsman and veteran builder Brian Thrasher.
The unique electric guitars are instantly recognizable. They feature retro-inspired custom colorways, with 10 different, hand-crushed extraterrestrial materials meticulously trapped under a clear coat finish. These rare materials include:
- Lunar (Moon) rock samples.
- Martian (Mars) fragments.
- Specimens from the historic Chelyabinsk superbolide.
- Materials traced to Asteroid 4 Vesta.
No two guitars are the same. Each model is distinguished by its unique meteorite material and custom colorway.
Exclusive Punk-Rock Features
In addition to their astronomical materials, these limited-edition instruments feature a custom red acrylic TTS knob and a cartoon hand-drawn and personally signed by Tom DeLonge.
The Ad Astra 10 collection launched on Friday, with each model priced at $3,500. Each purchase includes:
- A signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.
- A digital image of DeLonge’s unique scribbling.
- A physical fragment of the actual meteorite material used in the guitar’s finish.
