Two notes Audio Engineering has officially raised the bar for professional guitar amplifier control with the announcement of the Captor X Pro. Developed in close collaboration with Ampete Engineering, this new flagship device completely reimagines the renowned Captor family from the ground up, delivering an uncompromising, all-in-one platform for modern gigging, studio recording, and AI amplifier modeling.

Built to handle the rigorous demands of stadium backlines, late-night silent recording sessions, and complex stereo touring rigs, the Captor X Pro seamlessly merges premium analog hardware with cutting-edge digital processing.

Captor X Pro - New Standard for Reactive Load and Attenuation

At the heart of the Captor X Pro is a completely re-engineered 150W Multi-Impedance Reactive Load. Unlike many traditional load boxes that lock users into a single impedance, this unit supports 4-, 8-, and 16-ohm amplifiers from a single hardware platform. Paired with a relay-controlled, programmable passive attenuator featuring multiple precision stages, guitarists can now drive their tube amps into the coveted tonal sweet spot without overwhelming stage or studio volume.

For 2 a.m. recording sessions or direct-to-PA live setups, the unit transitions into a completely silent, direct recording solution while perfectly preserving the authentic dynamic feel and harmonic response of a physical speaker cabinet.

Triple-Voiced Load Architecture and Virtual Load Shaping

Recognizing that no two amplifiers react to a load identically, Two notes has introduced a Triple-Voiced Load Architecture. This provides three distinct load characteristics optimized for a broad range of amp designs, allowing users to dial in vintage warmth, modern articulation, or the precise repeatability required for AI amplifier profiling and measurement.

Taking tonal control a step further is the Virtual Load Shaper. This preset-based tool applies selectable impedance curves post-reactive load, allowing players to refine amp feel—tightening low-end response, boosting attack, or enriching harmonics—without physically modifying their amplifier or cab. It is a powerful tool for adapting a single rig to different guitars, playing styles, and monitoring environments.

True Stereo DynIR and Professional Studio Routing

Processing power takes a massive leap forward with the True Stereo DynIR Engine.

Producers and players can independently position two microphones—or static impulse responses (IRs)—across the stereo field, complete with separate processing chains and output assignments. The Captor X Pro comes pre-loaded with 24 premium DynIR virtual cabinets, each featuring eight industry-standard microphones with continuous positioning. This provides access to the equivalent of over 160,000 IRs per cabinet.

Professional Routing and Torpedo Remote Control

Routing options are strictly professional-grade. The unit features a mono pre- and stereo post-FX loop for seamless outboard integration, plus balanced stereo Line/DI outputs, a dedicated speaker output, USB-C, MIDI, and a headphone jack.

Perfect for integrating into a traditional tube setup, a hybrid rig, or a modern digital workflow, the Captor X Pro adapts without compromise.

Deep Control with Torpedo Remote

While the front panel offers immediate access to key functions, the Torpedo Remote app handles deep tweaking and is available for macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android.

Users can manage up to 128 onboard presets, configure complex routing, customize Virtual Load Shaper settings, and edit DynIR cabinets through an intuitive interface built for stage and studio workflows.

"Captor X Pro is the culmination of everything we’ve learned from nearly two decades of designing reactive load solutions for guitarists, producers, and professional studios," says Guillaume Pille, CEO of Two notes Audio Engineering. "Developed in collaboration with Ampete Engineering, it combines a premium reactive load, programmable passive attenuation with multiple stages down to total silence, our class-leading cabinet simulation, and professional connectivity in a single solution."
