Igor Nembrini spent over a decade developing guitar amp plugins before putting his own name on the company, based out of Pavia, Italy, that now builds digital emulations of classic amps, overdrive and distortion pedals and studio processors. The approach is component-level modelling — simulating the actual analog circuit behaviour rather than just sampling the sound — tuned by ear against the real hardware being emulated, with titles covering everything from Mesa/Boogie's TriAxis preamp to ENGL's Powerball. Nembrini also builds Live Rig, a standalone host for chaining virtual amps and effects together for live and studio use. Several of its plugins ship free, which is a large part of why we cover it.
