Ola Englund, guitarist for the Swedish metal band The Haunted and a long-running YouTube presence in the guitar-gear space, launched Solar Guitars in late 2017 after growing frustrated with how slowly established brands moved compared to how his own audience wanted to buy. He had 300 guitars ready to ship at launch, sold direct rather than through the usual distributor chain, and built the brand's identity around fast-turnaround, socially-driven releases rather than a traditional catalogue cycle.
