Tube amps are renowned for their rich, dynamic tone, but often require high volumes to shine truly. This presents a significant challenge for players seeking to enjoy the nuances of their favorite amps without disturbing neighbors or household members.
The Peacekeeper aims to resolve this dilemma by allowing players to push their amps to the limit while maintaining manageable sound levels.
“The Peacekeeper disrupts the conventional limitation of great amplifiers,” states Celestion’s managing director, Nigel Wood. “With its unique dual voice coil design, it empowers guitarists to unlock the true sonic potential of their amplifiers without worrying about the volume.”
How it Works
The Peacekeeper incorporates innovative attenuating technology that significantly reduces the speaker’s output sensitivity.
This allows players to drive their amps to their sweet spot without the accompanying increase in volume. Importantly, Celestion emphasizes that this attenuation is achieved “organically” through the loudspeaker’s design, ensuring no detrimental impact on the amp’s natural tone.

- Reduced Volume: Enables high-gain playing at significantly lower volumes.
- Preserves Tone: Maintains the natural tone and character of the amplifier.
- Standard Size: Compatible with a wide range of 12″ guitar speakers.
- 8Ω Impedance: Suitable for most standard amplifier configurations.

A Solution for Disgruntled Neighbors
The rise of amp modelers and headphone amps has offered alternative solutions for quiet playing. However, many guitarists still prefer the authentic sound of their beloved tube amps. The Peacekeeper provides a compelling option for these players, allowing them to enjoy the full sonic potential of their amps without compromising their relationships with their neighbors.
While the price point remains to be announced, the Peacekeeper is expected to offer a more cost-effective solution compared to dedicated attenuators or loadboxes for many players.
Guitar Bomb Verdict
Celestion’s Peacekeeper represents a significant advancement in loudspeaker technology, offering a unique solution to the age-old challenge of enjoying tube amps at lower volumes.
This innovation has the potential to revolutionize the way guitarists interact with their amplifiers, allowing them to experience the full spectrum of their instrument’s sonic capabilities in any environment.

2 thoughts on “Celestion Peacekeeper Speaker for Lower-Volume Tube Amp Bliss”
Jensen has been offering speakers with as low as 93db sensitivity, which is 7db less than most popular Celestion speakers which are 100db. This new speader is 86db, precisely 7db less than the Jensen speaker! I personally love the low sensitivity Jensens, I have a 20watt Laney Lionheart with 4×10 Jensen P10r speakers, which are 93 db. It SCREAMS at lower volumes when pushed. This new Celestion looks interesting!!
May I ask which Jensen model?
