TC Electronic
Brothers Kim and John Rishøj started TC Electronic in Denmark in 1976, and the SCF chorus/flanger pedal that followed became one of the defining modulation effects of the era. The company grew into rack-mounted processors and studio gear through the 1990s and 2000s, forming TC Group in 2002 by acquiring TGI plc and bringing several audio brands under one roof. Music Group, chaired by Uli Behringer, bought TC Electronic in 2015 and later renamed itself Music Tribe, folding TC in alongside Behringer and Midas. Who owns TC Electronic?
Music Group, the holding company chaired by Uli Behringer, which purchased it in August 2015. TC Electronic itself is Danish, founded in 1976 by brothers Kim and John Rishøj, and its catalogue runs well beyond guitar pedals into studio, broadcast and live sound processing.
What is the TC Electronic Ditto?
A looper reduced to one knob and one footswitch, which is why it became the default recommendation for players who wanted looping without a manual. The range has since grown to stereo, jam and multi-track versions, but the original's simplicity is still the appeal.
What is TonePrint?
TC's system for loading alternative settings into a pedal — often ones created by named artists — over USB or by holding a phone against the pickups. It means a Hall of Fame or Flashback can hold a specific voicing that is not reachable from the front panel controls.
What is a PolyTune?
A tuner that reads all six strings at once when you strum them, showing which are out at a glance, and switches to conventional chromatic tuning for a single string. It exists as a pedal, a clip-on and a rack unit, and polyphonic tuning was TC's idea before it became common.
