Fender has announced the release of the Limited-Edition Johnny Marr Signature Special Jaguar, the latest collaboration with the iconic British guitarist and songwriter.
Johnny Marr, best known as the groundbreaking musician behind The Smiths and for his collaborations with The Pretenders, Modest Mouse, and The Cribs, has partnered with Fender to expand his acclaimed signature line. The new Limited-Edition Jaguar blends vintage aesthetics with modern tonal innovation, designed to inspire guitarists across all genres.
A Tone Expander for the Modern Player
Marr, whose distinctive sound has shaped decades of music, emphasized the versatility of his collaboration with Fender.
“The Jaguar has been central to my sound and style for nearly 15 years,” said Johnny Marr. “With this new model, I wanted to create an instrument that feels classic but also pushes players to explore new tones and possibilities… From my work with The Cribs playing gritty indie, to the cinematic soundscapes I crafted with Hans Zimmer, the Jaguar has been an incredible asset in helping me expand my sound.”

Building on the success of his highly sought-after 2012 signature model, the new Fender Signature Special Jaguar boasts a striking gloss nitrocellulose black lacquer finish. It features all-new electronics and hardware modifications personally specified by Marr.
Marr also had a limited-run Gibson Les Paul earlier this year, based on his 1984 model, and the 7-string Martin acoustic at the end of last year. He loves his guitars, and so he appears to put a lot of thought into achieving his desired tones.
